Inkoto

Terms of use

Effective: October 5, 2026

By downloading or using Inkoto you agree to these terms. Apple's standard end user license agreement (EULA) also applies; if the two conflict, Apple's agreement prevails.

License

You may use Inkoto for personal, non-commercial purposes on Apple devices you own or control. You may not copy, distribute or sell the app's content (lessons, notes, audio, images).

Free content and Inkoto Premium

  • The first four units (hiragana and katakana) are free. Inkoto Premium unlocks the rest of the course.
  • Premium is offered monthly or yearly; the price is shown in the App Store before you buy. The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers; the monthly plan has no trial.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your App Store account settings.
  • When a free trial is offered, the subscription starts unless you cancel before the trial ends. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription during it.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

Accounts

Signing in is optional; the app works without it. If you sign in with Apple or email, keep your sign-in details safe and don't share them, because anyone who has them can use your account and see your progress. You can delete your account at any time on the Me tab (Account → Delete account and data). Deleting it does not cancel a subscription, which you manage in your App Store account settings. Our privacy policy explains what an account stores.

Content

We take care to keep the lessons accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee they are error-free or that you will pass any exam. Pitch-accent data comes from the Kanjium project under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Liability

The app is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from using or being unable to use the app. This does not limit your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms; the new version will be posted on this page with its effective date. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the new terms.
